Star Gate / Portón de Estrella
Star Gate mural is installed in the Adler Planetarium's Chicago Night Sky exhibit.
The concept illustrates the depths of the universe. There are three major components that interconnect with flowing calligraphy linework and interpretations of star galaxies throughout the background. Design elements include 1) astronomical clock/sundial measurements (around the edge), 2) a nod to the entrance of the interactive Atwood Sphere showing the night sky over Chicago (top), 3) vortex of star trails or the suggestion of layers in a multiverse (bottom).
The mural is circular and its center aligns with the intersection of the two walls to create more depth and intrigue. The palette uses cool colors (violet, navy, blues, gray, and black).
